Radio Bio
My radio career began in 1985 while attending the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. While working towards a Bachelor of Music degree, I held a regular shift as the overnight announcer for KCOL am/fm in Fort Collins. UNC was also the beginning of my audio training, working as a live mixer for the Jazz Festivals that were hosted by the School of Music. I moved back to Colorado Springs after graduation and assisted a long-time friend in establishing Penguin Digital Recording. Soon after, I relocated to Denver where I worked at KBXG, KNUS, KHOW, KYGO and many other radio stations, serving as a Field Engineer, Operator/Announcer, Producer, and Production Director. Denver also resulted in a successful period at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, where I worked at Denver Center Media, a full service production facility serving television, music and stage. In 1992 I moved to California and the San Francisco Bay Area. Here I continued my professional work in radio and as an audio engineer, working in many of the Bay Area's top radio stations (KFRC, KSFO), theaters (Exit Theatre's "Fringe Festival"), and ballet companies (Oakland Ballet, SMUIN Ballet). In 2001, I was involved with the creation of KALW's first News division, producing high quality, in-depth coverage of the news affecting the Bay Area. Currently I am the Technical Producer and Editor for the hour-long current events show "New America Now," produced by New America Media, and the Producer, Editor, Writer, and Recording Engineer for Explorations in Music.
